On the far right of each visitor, you can click the lightening bolt to invite that visitor to chat with you. Your invite banner will appear on their screen to either accept or close to decline.

Chatting

Once a visitor has requested a chat or your invitation has been accepted, the application will alert you with a short ring tone.
If they have requested a chat you will be prompted with an accept or decline button next to the visitor listing. If you have invited them, it will accept the chat automatically.
Here are screenshots of the two perspectives when in chat, operator and visitor:

From the operator chat window you can see the name of the visitors in chat with a tab (you can close the chat from there), as well as where you can simply type and press send for your messages.
You can also insert Canned Answers (premade texts to make your conversations easier)

From the visitors chat window they have a simple type and send function. They can also print or have the chat emailed to them.

From both chat windows you can see when the other is currently typing a message.
